Europe was the territory where the first e-invoicing specialists, such as Basware, emerged. At the time, Basware was a specialist with great strengths against any competitor, until suite providers like Coupa began to invest in their e-invoicing capabilities. Now Coupa has become a specialist in this function and can compete head-to-head with Basware. Additionally, Coupa has begun to invest in its payment processing capabilities, something Basware has not done yet. Competitively, the providers are close, especially in European markets where the uses are within complex systems landscapes, complex e-invoicing matching and validation processes, and a final status of OK-2-Pay (not payment processing).
But what exactly differentiates the two vendors, and how does each one’s relative strengths factor into the customer shortlist creation and ultimately their selection?
