In October, Beeline announced it was acquiring Utmost, a vendor in the contingent workforce and talent management market. Part 1 of our M&A coverage explored the history of the vendor management system (VMS) and where Utmost fits into the modern and increasingly HR friendly equation, alongside a more traditional contingent workforce vendor like Beeline.
We also provided some comparative facts and figures on the two vendors.
Utmost is not quite yet a full vendor management system. But, as we note, is unique in that “it puts the worker at the center of a modern services procurement system (not just ‘procurement’) hence making HR a key stakeholder in terms of value creation. This includes a data model and database/data repository for extended workforce and other data, a configurable workflow engine to support workflows for onboarding (and more) and an application layer to support enterprise managers and workers in different roles.”
As our analysis continues in Part 2, we explore what the acquisition means for Beeline technology competitors (including Workday, SAP, Oracle and Coupa), as well as customer recommendations to maximize value from the acquisition.
