Know What to Watch – Spend Matters 50/50 methodology

On Monday October 31 at 13:00 Central Time (USA and Canada), the Spend Matters analyst team will host a webinar titled “Know” What to “Watch”: 2022’s Top Tech to Maximize You Impact.

This webinar will serve as a reflection on the consideration and selection processes behind the 2022 edition of our 50 Procurement Providers to Watch, 50 Procurement Providers to Know and the Future 5 lists. These lists, which Spend Matters published on October 17, represent the conclusion of a thorough market analysis that covers 10 market sectors to discover both the best-in-class solutions and the up-and-coming ones as well as five particularly innovative start-ups.

But naming 50 vendors to Watch and 50 to Know is simply the final step in a series of discussions that occurred over the last few months. Even before they decided which companies should appear on which list, the Spend Matters analyst team had to consider the contour of the procurement tech market and how individual companies coped with the challenges presented. Despite 2022 being the ninth year that Spend Matters has determined its 50/50 lists and the fourth year for its Future 5, the dynamics informing the procurement market have forced the analysts to reevaluate what is required for providers to maintain their footing.

“Macro forces and shifting competitive dynamics are breathing new life into the procurement technology market — and some providers will ride the new wave better than others,” Nick Heinzmann, VP or Research at Spend Matters, says.“From a volatile economic environment to geopolitical chaos and evolving regulatory frameworks, procurement is overwhelmed with issues it must keep on top of while delivering on its current portfolio of initiatives.”

Many may be aware of the recent geopolitical chaos and new regulations that have cast the importance of procurement into sharp relief. Fewer may understand what actual technology is needed to ride the waves rippling out from those disruptions. Fewer still may have the familiarity to distill insight from that understanding.

You are invited to watch as our analysts revisit these considerations and draw out conclusions from the list-making process. The topics the Spend Matters analyst team will cover include the trends reshaping the procurement technology market, what trends are real that deserve investment and which are merely hype and which new tech capabilities correlate to true outcomes. These reflections will be capped by specific recommendations on what you should not miss out on. You know the companies Spend Matters has called the 50 to Know, the 50 to Watch and the 5 that may determine procurement’s future. Now you can learn what that specifically means.

You can register for the webinar here for October 31, 2022

1pm Central / 6pm GMT / 7pm CET

While this timing may be a bit later for some readers, registrants will receive a link to listen to our recorded webinar after the live event.
